About Us

“With all these video games, there’s little social contact, and people don’t know who their neighbours are anymore. But if you get a bunch of kids on their bikes, then they get to know each other, and then the families get to know each other, and I think the more time you spend outside, the better.”

History of our community bike shop

In 2005 a group of friends came together to establish the first community bike shop in Winnipeg. It was located on the west side of Main Street. A while later the bike shop moved across the street to the rear of 631 Main Street. The original bike shop was named The Bike Dump. Today the same shop has been rebranded to Bike Zone.

There have been hundreds of dedicated volunteers since its inception. It is through their dedication that the first community bike shop has continued to serve and help our fellow citizens in Winnipeg.
